What Your Trash Can Cleaning Subscribers See in the Customer App
A subscriber pays you every month for something they rarely see happen. They are at work when the trailer comes. They roll the cans back in the evening and maybe never look inside. The customer app closes that gap. It shows subscribers what you are doing for them, lets them handle their own account and gives them fewer reasons to call the office.
The Subscriber's Side of the Service
Moving customers into the system, covered in Moving Your Recurring Trash Can Cleaning Customers Off a Spreadsheet, is the office side of the switch. The customer app is the side your subscribers see. It runs on their phone, and it is where most of their questions get answered without you.
The Live Route on Cleaning Day
On the day of their cleaning, subscribers can open the customer app and see the route on a live map. Instead of wondering when you will show up, they see something like “You're stop 12 of 20, the crew is 5 stops away.”
For a bin cleaning customer, that matters. If they rolled the cans back in by mistake, they know they have time to put them out again. If they want to watch the cleaning or ask the tech something, they know when to step outside.
Alerts They Choose
Not every customer wants the same amount of contact. In the customer app, subscribers choose their own alerts:
- Night before: a reminder the evening before the cleaning.
- When they're next: a heads-up when the crew is heading to their stop.
- When the tech arrives: a message when the crew pulls up.
These work alongside the automated reminders the office sends before each cleaning, like “We clean tomorrow, leave the cans out.” More on that in Reminder Texts Before Every Recurring Trash Can Cleaning.
Invoices, Payments and Cards
Billing questions are some of the most common calls a subscription business gets. The customer app answers most of them:
- See invoices. Every completed cleaning's invoice, with line items for the plan, extra cans and add-ons.
- Pay online. Customers with an open balance can pay it from the app.
- Update their card. When a card expires or is replaced, the customer updates it themselves so the next auto-charge goes through.
That last one alone saves a lot of back and forth. Instead of calling a customer to ask for new card details, you send a short text asking them to update it in the app.
Requesting Service and Signing Up
Subscribers sometimes want more than their regular plan: a one-time extra cleaning after a party, a pad cleaning, or adding a recycling can. They can request service right from the app. The request goes to the office, which confirms the details and schedules it.
Customers can also sign up for services and see your pricing in the app. A one-time customer who liked their deep clean can start a plan without calling you.
Ratings and Referrals
After a cleaning, customers can rate the service. A low rating is an early warning: something went wrong, and you can fix it before it turns into a cancellation. A high rating is a chance to ask for a review or a referral.
Referrals matter a lot in this business. One subscriber on a street makes the next neighbor easier to win, and every new neighbor makes the route tighter. The customer app makes it easy for happy subscribers to refer someone.
Fewer Calls, More Trust
Every question the app answers is a call the office does not take. “When are you coming?” is answered by the live map. “Did you charge me?” is answered by the invoice. “My card changed” is handled by the customer. That frees the office to focus on routes, sign-ups and the problems that really need a person.
It also builds trust. A subscriber who can see the route, the invoice and the date of every cleaning feels like they are getting what they pay for.
Getting Customers Into the App
The app only helps if customers use it. Mention it in your welcome text, on your invoices and in reminders. Show it to customers who call with a question the app could have answered: “You can see that any time in the app.” It runs on iPhone and Android through the browser, so there is no app store download to explain.
Show Subscribers the Work
The customer app turns an invisible service into one subscribers can see and manage. For more on recurring plans, visit the trash can cleaning subscription software page.
