How to Use a 14-Day Free Trial of Trash Can Cleaning Software
Most free trials end the same way: the owner clicked around for twenty minutes on day one, got busy, and the trial ran out with nothing learned. Fourteen days is plenty of time to know whether software fits your bin cleaning company, if you use it on your real business.
Real Customers, Real Routes
In Trash Can Cleaning Software in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, we covered companies outside the US. Wherever you are, the trial works the same. TrashCanBossPro's trial is 14 days with no credit card. The goal is to run a slice of your real business through it, not to look at sample data.
Days 1–2: Set Up the Basics
- Enter your company details and shop address.
- Build your service list with your real prices.
- Import your customer list with a CSV, or add one real route's worth of customers by hand if your list isn't ready.
- Add cans, trash day, can location notes and plans to those addresses.
You don't need every customer in. One full trash day's worth of customers is enough to test the whole loop. The one-day setup plan in Getting Set Up on Trash Can Cleaning Software in One Day works for a trial too.
Days 3–4: Look at the Waiting List
Once plans are set, open the Waiting List. Does the map look like your business? Are the customers you know are due showing as due now? Are the overdue ones the ones you'd expect? This is the first real test: if the map matches what's in your head, you can stop keeping it in your head.
Days 5–7: Run a Real Route
Pick a trash day and route it in the software:
- Assign the due customers to the right day and trailer.
- Auto-route Closest First or Furthest First from the shop, then adjust.
- Have the tech, or you, log into the tech app with a PIN on a real phone.
- Work the route: navigation, cans on each card, before and after photos, Start / Skip / Complete.
Pay attention to how it feels at the curb. Is the can line easy to read? Is it quick to tap through a stop? Would a new tech get through this route without calling you?
Days 5–7, Too: Turn On the Customer Side
Let the night-before reminders and on-the-way and arrived texts go out to that route's customers. Ask a few friendly customers to open the customer app and tell you what they think of the live map. Reply to a customer text from the office with two-way texting. Keep an eye on how many text segments you use; it tells you which plan's allowance fits you.
Days 8–10: Test the Money
Have a few customers add a card in the customer app or through the sign-up form. Complete their jobs and watch the invoices get created and the cards charged. Check an invoice from the customer's side. If you have an HOA or property manager, set them to Monthly and look at what their statement will look like.
This is where most companies decide. Seeing a route's worth of payments come in without sending a single invoice by hand answers the question pretty clearly.
Days 11–12: Bring in the Team
Add your techs with their own PINs and trailer assignments. Add an office user with a role. Have a tech clock in on the time clock and watch crew GPS on the office map. If you have two trailers, filter the dispatch board by trailer and build two routes.
Days 13–14: Decide
Sit down with what you learned:
- Did the Waiting List match your business?
- Did the route run from the phone without calls back to you?
- Did customers respond to reminders and the live map?
- Did payments come in on their own?
- How many text segments did you use?
Then pick a plan: Start at $59 a month, Pro at $89 or Crew at $199, never billed per user.
Try the Demo First if You're Short on Time
If you aren't ready to put real customers in yet, the live demo is a quick way to look around first. It shows the Waiting List, the dispatch board and the apps with sample data, so you can get a feel for the layout in a few minutes. Just don't let the demo replace the trial. Sample data can't tell you whether your trash days, your routes and your customers fit. Once you've looked around, start the trial and put your own business through it.
The Takeaway
Use the trial on real customers and real routes, test the money, bring in the team, and decide with your own numbers. For the full overview of what you'll be testing, visit the trash can cleaning software page.
